MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Bachelor Degree in Shipping and Logistics Management/ Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management/ Bachelor Degree in Maritime Transport and Nautical science, Marine Engineering, Science, Engineering, Business administration, Economics, Accountancy and Mathematics/Statistics with minimum GPA 2.7.
  2. Holder of Advanced Diploma in Shipping and Logistics Management/Transport/Port/Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management/ Maritime Transport and Marine Engineering with minimum GPA 3.0
  3. Holder of unclassified Bachelor Degree in Shipping and Logistics Management/ Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management/ Bachelor Degree in Maritime Transport and Nautical science, Marine Engineering, Science, Engineering, Business administration, Economics, Accountancy and Mathematics/Statistics with a distinction.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is TWO (2) years academic year organized in four semesters.

MASTER’S DEGREE (NTA LEVEL 9) IN TRANSPORT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (MTSM)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. BACHELOR DEGREE IN MARINE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY –(NTA LEVEL 7/8)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations with at least two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points fromPhysics, Mathematics and Chemistry subjects and at least 3 credits at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English;or
  2. A Holder of Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in either Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering with at least a GPA of 3.0 from a recognized institution and at least 3 Pass at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English.

BACHELOR DEGREE IN MARITIME TRANSPORT –(NTA LEVEL 7/8)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations with at least two principal passes in the following subjects; Mathematics, Physics, and Geography with an aggregate of 4 points and at least 3 credits at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English;or
  2. A Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Maritime Transport and Master Fishermen with at least a GPA of 3.0 from a recognized Institution and at least 3 Pass at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 4 years academic years organized in semesters.

BACHELOR DEGREE IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT –(NTA LEVEL 7/8)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of advanced certificate of secondary education examination (ACSSE) with a total of 4.0 points from two principal passes of which one of the subject should be either Mathematics, or Physics/Engineering Science, or Chemistry, or Economics, or Geography, or Commerce; or
  2. A Holder of ordinary diploma (NTA level 6) in shipping and logistics management, logistics and transport, maritime transport, master fisherman, marine engineering, procurement and logistics, freight clearing and forwarding and transport management with at least a GPA of 3.0; or
  3. A Holder of full technician certificate (FTC) with an average grade of B ; or
  4. A Holder of diploma in education with an average grade of B+ for science and commerce subjects.

BACHELOR DEGREE IN NAVAL ARCHITECTURE AND OFFSHORE ENGINEERING – (NTA LEVEL 8)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with at least two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points in the following subjects; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

NB:

Applicants of this category will be required to pursue a bridging course during the period of their study in order to acquire necessary 120 credits required from the lower level.

  1. A Holder of an Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in either Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineeringwith at least a GPA of 3.0 from a recognized institution.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

BACHELOR DEGREE IN PROCUREMENT, LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT – (NTA LEVEL 7/8)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management with at least a GPA of 3.0; or
  2. A Holder of advanced certificate of secondary education examination (ACSSE) with a total of 4.0 points from two principal passes of which one of the subject should be either Mathematics, or Physics/Engineering Science, or Chemistry, or Economics, or Geography, or Commerce; or
  3. Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with an average grade of B; or
  4. A Holder of Diploma in Education with an average grade of B+ for science and commerce subjects.

BACHELOR DEGREE (NTA LEVEL 8) IN MECHANICAL AND MARINE ENGINEERING (BMME)

  1. A Holder of an Ordinary Diploma (NTA Leve6) in Mechanical and Marine Engineering with al lest a GPA of 3.0 from recognized institution.
  2. A Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with at least two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points in the following subjects; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry and who has undergone one-year general course.
  3. A Holder of and Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in either Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering with at least GPA of 3.0 from recognized institution and who has undergone one-year General Course.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 4 academic years organized in two semesters.

BACHELOR DEGREE (NTA LEVEL 8) IN OIL AND GAS ENGINEERING   (BOGE)

  1. A Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with at at least two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points in the following subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Geography and Chemistry.
  2. A Holder of an Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Oil and Gas Engineering with at least a GPA of 3.0 from recognized institution.
  3. A Holder of an Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) either in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, Marine and Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering with at least a GPA of 3.0 from a recognized institution.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 4 academic years organized in two semesters.

BACHELOR DEGREE (NTA LEVEL 8) IN NAVAL MECHANTRONICS ENGINEERING (BMTE)

  1. A Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education examination with at least two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points in the following subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
  2. A Holder of an Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) either in Marine Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering with at least a GPA of 3.0 from a recognized institution. 

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 4 academic years organized in two semesters.

BACHELOR DEGREE (NTA LEVEL 7/8) IN TRANSPORT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT – (BTSM)

  1. A Holder of Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Transport and Supply Chain Management/Shipping and Logistics  with at least a GPA of 3.0; or
  2. A Holder of advanced certificate of secondary education examination (ACSSE) with a total of 4.0 points from two principal passes of which one of the subject is either Mathematics, or Physics/Engineering Science, or Chemistry, or Economics, or Geography, or History, or Commerce; or
  3. Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with an average grade of B; or
  4. A Holder of Diploma in Education with an average grade of B+ for science and commerce subjects.

BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN MARINE OPERATIONS – (NTA LEVEL 4)   

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education (ACSSE) with at least one principal and one subsidiary passes in any of the following subjects; Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Chemistry.
  2. Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes at D grade in any subject including one among the listed subjects; Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Geography and  English.
  3. Holder of National Vocational Award (NVA) level III in engineering field (mechanical or electrical or civil) and must have Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV).

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year full time organized in two semesters.

BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT – (NTA LEVEL 4)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Ordinary Level Secondary Education Certificate with at least four passes at D’s grade excluding religious subjects Or
  2. A Holder of National Vocational Award (NVA) level III and must have Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV).

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year, full time organized in two semesters annually.

BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN NAVAL ARCHITECTURE AND OFFSHORE ENGINEERING – (NTA LEVEL 4)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes at D grade in any subject including one among the listed subjects;Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science, Chemistry, Geography and English; or
  2. A Holder of relevant certificate of competency Level III /Grade One issued by VETA andCertificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least twopasses excluding religion subjects

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN PROCUREMENT, LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT – (NTA LEVEL 4)

  1. A Holder of Ordinary Level Secondary Education Certificate with at least four passes excluding religious subjects.

BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE (NTA LEVEL 4)  IN MECHANICAL AND MARINE ENGINEERING (BTCMME)

  1. Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes at grade D in any of following subjects; Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry and English; or
  2. Holder of National Vocational Award (NVA) level III in Mechanical Engineering.

Duration of the Course

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE (NTA LEVEL 4) IN OIL AND GAS ENGINEERING   (BTCOGE)

  1. Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes at grade D in any of following subjects; Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Geography, Chemistry and English; or
  2. Holder of a relevant Certificate of Competence III.

Duration of the Course

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY PROGRAMMES

  1. Entry qualifications for Certificate of Competency programmes are presented in the following sections. However, eligibility for admission is subject to approval from TASAC.

OFFICER IN CHARGE OF AN ENGINEERING WATCH ON SHIPS LESS THAN 750KW (OOEW< 750 KW).

  1. A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) and has not less than 36 months seagoing service period.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 6 months.

OFFICER IN CHARGE OF A NAVIGATION WATCH ON SHIPS LESS THAN 500GT (OONW< 500 GT)

  1. A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education with 36 months seagoing service as rating or Ordinary Diploma in Maritime Transport or Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education (ACSE) with 6 months of approved seagoing service.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 6 months.

ELECTRO-TECHNICAL OFFICER

A candidate who applies for this course must meet the entry requirements as explained in the two routes below:

  1. 36-months seagoing service route
    • A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with 4 passes including Mathematics, Physics and English or a holder of a Certificate in Marine Engineering NTA level 5 and has not less than 36 months of seagoing service.
  2. 12-months seagoing service route
    • A holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education (ACSE) with principal passes in Mathematics and Physics or a holder of a relevant NTA level 6 of education. 
    • The candidate under this route will undergo a period of an approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

OFFICER IN CHARGE OF AN ENGINEERING WATCH

A candidate who applies for this course must meet the entry requirements as explained in the two routes below:

  1. 36-months seagoing service route
  • A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) with 4 passes including Mathematics, Physics and English or A Holder of a Technician Certificate in Marine Engineering NTA level 5 or A Holder of CoC for Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch less than 750 kW and has not less than 36 months of seagoing service.
  1.  12-months seagoing service route
  • A holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education (ACSE) with 2 principal passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry or A Holder of a relevant NTA level 6 of education and OOEW< 750kW.
  • The candidate under this route will undergo a period of an approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semester.

OFFICER IN CHARGE OF A NAVIGATIONAL WATCH

  1. A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with 4 passes including Mathematics, Physics and English and has 36 months seagoing service as rating or Ordinary Diploma in Maritime Transport or Advanced Certificate of Secondary School education with 12 months of approved seagoing service or holder of Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on Ships less than 500 GT with 36 months’ sea service on board ship.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

MASTER ON SHIPS LESS THAN 500GT

  1. A holder of Officer in Charge of a Navigation Watch on Ships less than 500GT and have not less than 12 months of seagoing serviced on board ship as Officer in Charge of Navigation Watch on Ships less than 500 GT.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

MASTER AND CHIEF MATE ON SHIPS BETWEEN 500GT AND 3000GT

  1. A holder of Certificate of Competency as officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 GT or more and has not less than 12 months of approved seagoing service.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 6 months.

CHIEF ENGINEER OFFICER AND SECOND ENGINEER OFFICER ON SHIPS BETWEEN 750KW AND 3000KW

  1. A holder of Certificate of Competency as officer in charge of an engineering watch on seagoing ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more and has not less than 12 months of seagoing service while qualified as officer in charge of an engineering watch. To qualify as a chief engineer officer a candidate must have not less than 24 months seagoing service of which not less than 12 months of such sea service has been served as second engineer officer.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is 18 weeks.

MASTER AND CHIEF MATE

  1. A holder of Certificate of Competency as officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 GT or more and has not less than 12 months of approved seagoing service. To qualify as a Master a Candidate must have not less than 36 months seagoing service; however, this period may be reduced to not less than 24 months if not less than 12 months of such sea service has been served as Chief Mate.

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The duration of the course is one (1) academic year organized in two semesters.

CHIEF ENGINEER OFFICER AND SECOND ENGINEER OFFICER

  1. A holder of Certificate of Competency as officer in charge of an engineering watch on seagoing ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more and has not less than 12 months of seagoing service while qualified as officer in charge of an engineering watch.
